Black Beauty Roster Show Highlights Growth for Black-Owned Brands
The Black Beauty Roster (BBR) hosted its first consumer and industry-facing show in West Chelsea, New York, on Tuesday, drawing over 1,100 attendees including content creators, industry professionals, and Beauty enthusiasts.
Show Focuses on Education and Access
The event featured brand activations, panels, and demonstrations, offering a platform for Black-owned Beauty brands to gain visibility and opportunities. Sponsors included Ulta Beauty, SalonCentric, and Fenty Beauty.

BBR’s Mission and Evolution
Launched in 2020 in response to social justice movements, BBR has grown into an inclusive platform advocating for diversity and equity in the beauty industry. It connects talent with brands and organizations, aiming to overcome systemic barriers.

Founder’s Perspective
"In 2020, the industry was responding to an important cultural moment, but it lacked intentionality," says BBR founder Maude Okrah Hunter. "For BBR, it’s about building systems that create lasting opportunities."
Bridging the Gap
The BBR Beauty Show was created to bridge the gap between talent, brands, and consumers, fostering education, discovery, and networking. Brands sought authentic connections with creators, validating the show’s vision.
Industry Commitment
"Real change in the beauty industry needs to come from within," says Oribe director of global education Ke’Ala Kamulu. "To Oribe, that means visibility, education, and access to opportunities need to be in sync."
